In this blog post I will highlighting my ventures since the last post (which was quite some time ago, apologies). I had some major free time in mid-year and took to developing a new HTML5 game, working on the MMO project and learning new skills. I got a new avatar too!
What I have been up to
The months that I was away I spent my free time making a new HTML5 game, making progress on the MMO project and brushing up my programming skills with GameMaker as well as planning out ideas for games. It felt good to do some programming again after all the studying and hard work for school.
Not to mention that I took a step into an artist's world and tried my hands at doing vector art, but I am still a novice and more time is needed to get better.

Development
When the exams for school ended I was quite excited to know that 3 weeks would be great to start a new game and that is exactly what I had in mind, using the right resources I could have a productive holiday developing a great game. The design and thought of the game was hard to accomplish with many ideas spinning around on how I would have liked to do it but managed something in the end. I developed Rolling Acorn, a physics based puzzle game with 20 levels which is mobile-ready and so I was overall impressed with the final product (even though the ups and downs took most of my holiday away).
Soon enough the holidays ended and I had to jump back into my books and that's just how the year has been (in and out of books). I took some time to hack into the Omnipotent World Sequel's design and planning, but I didn't get much done. It will have to be postponed till the end of November before I work on it again. Keep in mind that the Omnipotent World Sequel is low on my priority list, as I try to make a success out of HTML5 games instead of one big project.
I did some work on the MMO project which taught me a lot about online games and how they actually work. I took a few days to help the team leader with design, creation and discussion of different aspects of the game. Not much can be said about it as the Non Disclosure Agreement which I signed holds legal entities of the information.
For the past weekend I decided to make a quick prototype of an old game that used to be up on this site. It was called Towarz, it's a side-scrolling strategy game based on tower wars. I developed Towarz a year and a half ago, as my second game after Omnipotent World. I have come a long way since then and the combat I could not code back then, I did in a few minutes on the weekend inside this prototype. My mock up of this prototype has turned into a quick game that I plan on finishing before the middle of this week. So stay posted for updates! (If you would like to play Towarz, it is available on a hidden page, with outdated source code and very amateur coding, its playable here)

Business plan
During the past months, my business plan was successful and unsuccessful due to a number of reasons.
It was successful in the response and ideas I had received for games, I had a big response from my local community who wanted to make this work just as much as I wanted to, I also maintained a database of 45+ HTML5 sponsors (Contact me if you would be interested in it) and so it wasn't a complete fail in the end.
It was unsuccessful for the following reasons:
These are just the small things that publishers look for when sponsoring games and my budget currently doesn't support this, but to no avail I will be attempting this once again. Within the next month or 2 I will be purchasing a mobility engine for GameMaker and then outsource some artwork for a new game. I will have the necessary funds by then for both of them so I will be able to take a second shot at it.

It was unsuccessful for the following reasons:
- Mobility; lacking high quality mobility that publishers look for in mobile-ready HTML5 games.
- High quality artwork; Most high quality artwork is premium and needs to be paid for.

Website changes
I got a new avatar! Courtesy of Kepons from the GameMaker Community. I really love the new avatar, it brings out the inner me and creates an image of myself.
I also added some ads to the site to generate some revenue.

Future plans
So my conclusion of this blog post is my future plans (which, as you can see, I always do at the end of my blog posts). I usually always take what I have mentioned before and make a small summery of what I have to do so it gives a transparent idea of what you can expect from me.
I am currently a week away from my final exams for school which only come to a stop at the end of November, so progress is going to be at its all time minimal for the year. After its all done and over with I will be taking a dive into development again.
This is what you can expect from me for the rest of the year:
This is the conclusion for my blog post! I hope you all enjoyed the post and enjoy the rest of my website. You may Contact Me if you have any questions or if you are interested in my database of HTML5 publishers.
If you would like to hear more about development and get updates about my games then you can subscribe to the sidebar and/or follow me on twitter @MitchBrits15
Please would you be so kind as to share this upon social media. I would be so grateful, thank you.
