Game Maker
GameMaker 8.1
"GameMaker 8.1, the last release of GameMaker for Windows, offered a drag-and-drop interface for rapid design and iteration of gameplay features, graphics and sound, as well as an integrated development environment (IDE) and a flexible, built-in scripting language (GML, GameMaker Language). GameMaker for Windows was the perfect low-cost tool for quick, easy games development for Microsoft Windows."
GameMaker 8.1 is very simple to use, the drag and drop interface provides a basic understanding base for programming. Users can use the Drag and Drop interface to create fully functional games! GameMaker also has its own built-in language that it supports called GameMaker Language (GML) which can be used to extend the manipulation of objects and bring out the full potential of GameMaker itself.
All you have to do is load resources into the program as the base of objects and game play and then manipulate objects to make use of the resources. Manipulated objects are then placed inside rooms to make functional and sophisticated game play. Rooms can also be modified with size, backgrounds, tilesets and views.
Resource management varies from:
GameMaker 8.1 for PC only exports to Windows PC.
GameMaer 8.1 for Mac only exports to Mac OS.
The free version of GameMaker 8.1 has some limitations for resources which encourages you to purchase a license. Doing so will remove the limitations.
